2 pm Saturday April 6th at the Times Cinema Short Cuts: A Discussion on the Art of Short Filmmaking will be a panel discussion about telling fleshed out stories in a short amount of time. Dealing with all of the issues that come with that and the response of some folks to the art form. The panel will feature some very creative and talented folks who know a lot about making great short films. Moderator - Ron Purtee Ron Purtee is a writer, director, and producer who has been directing for over 10 years and is the mind behind the Becoming Undead and Social Media Massacre series. You can see his films at www.youtube.com/ronpurtee Panelists Danny Villanueva Jr. is a Mexican-American film writer/director born on April 6, 1989 in Chicago, IL. He studied Digital Filmmaking/Video Production at the Art Institute of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. In 2012, he launched a horror-themed web channel, How Bizarre, which featured segments such as short films, mini-documentaries on destinations with eerie or haunted history, and bite-sized horror themed cartoons. Danny is currently in production on his first feature-length film, a supernatural drama/horror anthology which is expected for a 2019 release under How Bizarre Pictures.  Anna Sampers has worked in programming and development for the nonprofit Milwaukee Film since 2009. She was the organization’s sole grant writer in addition to curating the “Shorter Is Better” section of the Milwaukee Film Festival since its first annual event in 2009. In 2018, she became Milwaukee Film’s Senior Programmer, continuing to oversee many of the festival’s shorts programs while also curating features for both the annual film festival and the organization’s newly acquired year-round cinema. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Anna received her BFA in Film, with a double minor in Film Studies and Spanish. Anna is also an accomplished, award-winning filmmaker whose work has screened at the Wisconsin Film Festival and the Ivy Film Festival, among others.  Hi. I'm Chad Halvorsen's bio. I've been given the honorable task of letting you know, that Chad is an multi-award winning producer, director, and editor. He's worked on shorts, commercials, and music videos for the past 13 years, and shows no signs of stopping. I'm also contractually obligated to tell you that Mr. Halvorsen requires green M&M's and farm-to-table drinking water. Sugar packets and a stale cup of tap water would also suffice. Max Groah - 81 minutes Bong of the Living Dead is the story of five friends who share both a love of pot and a lifelong dream to see the zombie apocalypse become reality. But when the undead actually rise to gruesomely (and hilariously) eat the living, the group discovers it's not all corpse-killing montages and mall raids ... and that their relationships will be pushed to the limit if they're going to survive.
