Politics In Horror” will occur Apr. 14 at 2 pm, and will consist of Ross Bigley, an award-winning filmmaker and founder of the Milwaukee Short Film Festival, David Luhrssen, an author and managing editor of the Shepherd Express, and Jason Thorton, a local filmmaker and author who will screen a clip of his new film “Cactus Jack" at the panel. The panel will be moderated by Michael Viers, a local filmmaker and podcaster who's previously had films at the TDFF. “Women In Horror” will occur Apr. 15 at 2 pm, and will include Susan Kerns, a filmmaker, writer, and professor at Columbia College in Chicago, Wendy Keeling, an actor, artist, and filmmaker based in Nashville who will have a film in this year's festival, and Theda de Sade, a dancer, model, actress, and playwright who founded Glamour Junkies, a neo-burlesque troupe. She is also one of the feature film judges and was the hostess of the Twisted Dreams Masquerade Ball last October. The panel will be moderated by Josephine Yanasak-Leszczynski, a writer and critic. The Milwaukee Twisted Dreams Film Festival will occur at the Times Cinema at 5906 W. Vliet St. from April 13-15. More information can be found at http://www.twisteddreamsff.com/. Milwaukee Twisted Dreams Film Festival Presented by Precision Color Graphics Announces New Events, Schedule, and Sale of Passes! Along with all the spirits and spooks enjoyed in previous years, Twisted Dreams has new events to look forward to this April! This year we are presenting Spook Show! It will feature the band, The Fiendish Phantoms, and a master of the vaudevillian circus sideshow, Sanjula, known for his bizarre sideshow performances. Along with these acts will be a block of short films- the craziest, and the most bizarre and disturbing films from around the world, including:
Twisted Dreams is also presenting panel discussions with panelists to be announced soon. The first panel is Politics in Horror- a discussion of the history of horror films and how they reflect politics of their time, and also talk about how current politics might reflect future horror films. The second panel is Women in Horror. This panel will discuss how women have been portrayed in horror films as well as the increase in women horror film directors.
